Remembering Jerry Reed

Award winning Songwriter/Producer Eddie Reasoner  was just a young newcomer to the music scene when Jerry Reed’s Manager, Harry M. Warner saw him performing live in a local Nashville Piano Bar.  Warner asked Reasoner to sing something he’d written – he did.  The following morning Eddie was invited to Jerry Reed’s office to begin a long term writer/publisher relationship with Reed’s Publishing company – Vector Music.  “It was truly a memorable time for me as a young songwriter” Reasoner recalled, ”I worked with and mentored with some of the best songwriters I could have ever imagined, like Wayne Carson, Stewart Harris and Dick Feller.”

(Wayne Carson wrote Always On My Mind, The Letter –  Dick Feller wrote the hit  “East Bound and Down” with Jerry Reed  for Smokey and the Bandit and Stewart Harris has had 9 number one hits and numerous film awards including Wynonna’s No One Else On Earth)

“Jerry had a “claw” style of guitar pickin’ like no other– Vector Music was a tremendous education for me both musically and businesswise.  I knew Jerry on many levels both as a musician/actor and as a lover of the great outdoors Reed was a musician’s musician and I admired the man, but most of all-

“Jerry Reed was Honest and Good to Me

He made a profound impact on my whole perspective of the music business. He shall be missed.”
